Personal History
Dave Willacker was born and raised in Cincinnati,
Ohio. He attended St. Veronica grade school, where he wrote
his first play while in the sixth grade. The play was
performed for the Christmas pageant that year. After
graduating from St. Veronica, Dave attended McNicholas High School.
There under the guidance of drama teacher Ms. Gene Spurlock, Dave
became a nationally recognized Thespian. At competition Dave
and a friend of his Scott Replogel won a first place award for
performance of a skit which they had written together. Also
during high school Dave performed in numerous plays and was asked to
rework the dialogue of scenes adjusting for additional characters or
dated content. Dave's writing continued throughout high
school, having several stories published writing high school
publications and he became an editor of the school newspaper.
The summer following high school Dave auditioned
and joined the cast of the Ohio Renaissance Festival. Dave
became pirate Slightly Acutabove and began two seasons of fight
choreography training. Also while at the Ohio Renaissance
Festival Dave learned to juggle, first from a friend and then from a
book The Complete Juggler which was recommended to him and
which he now recommends to others. After two seasons with the
Ohio Renaissance Festival Dave reluctantly retired to focus his time
on working and college. Dave was now attending Northern
Kentucky University and studying Psychology and Religious Studies.
While attending college Dave continued to audition for roles in the
Northern Kentucky's plays, and continued to practice juggling.
For a long time Dave was the best juggler he knew, until he attended
the Cincinnati Club Club one evening. The Cincinnati Club Club
is a recreational juggling club open to all people who wish to
juggle. Dave was floored by the talent and skills of people
like Scott Sorenson, Arnold Ward, and Rochelle McCollom. Dave
soon joined the club and began moving to the next level of talent.
At the same time Dave was experiencing a
spiritual awakening. While attending Northern Kentucky
University he had become a member, and eventually president, of the
Catholic Newman Center. While Dave's Major remained psychology
he began taking Religious Studies classes and even took Biblical
Greek at Cincinnati Bible College. It became clear that God
was calling Dave to ministry and in the summer of 1997 Dave became
the Director of Youth Ministry for Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in
Fairfield Ohio.
